LB ISLINGTON MAYOR’S AWARD MARCH 2013

Following the attack and stabbing of Mr Patel, a trader in Ferntower Road, many local people rallied around to support him. Amongst these were Cllr Joe Caluori and Nicky Southin, who was Chair of the Newington Green Action Group for many years, and they decided to nominate Mr Patel for an LBI Mayor's Civic Award.

We are pleased to say that the nomination was accepted and Mr Patel was presented with his award on Monday 11 March. You may see an image here:

MARY WOLLSTONECRAFT ON NEWINGTON GREEN CHURCH

Some Street Art has arrived at the Newington Green Unitarian Church in the form of a life-sized image of Mary Wollstonecraft by Stewy on the side wall of this Grade 2 Listed building. It was interesting to see a number of local people photographing the image and discussing its significance.

The despicable and cowardly robbery by three men, from a much loved trader in Newington Green, has greatly angered local residents. Mr Patel of Lena Stores in Ferntower Road, was stabbed in the face and hands early on 30 December. Now out of hospital, he is recovering at home.

CAROLS BY THE GREEN 2012

This year's Christmas Carols took place on a chilly but dry evening on the Ferntower Road patio at Newington Green. Newington Green Action Group arranged the Carols as part of the Christmas Cheer Week celebrations run by the Newington Green Traders Association (NGTA).

NGAG Website has Been Hacked!

Apologies for the fact that this website has been down for some weeks. The website was hacked into and it has taken our volunteer Webmaster Charlotte, many hours of hard work with the help of United Web Hosting, to bring it back online.

There are still some problems to be sorted out and some pages may look odd for a while but we hope that the website will be completely functional again very soon and that you will be able to access all photos and information as before and will be able to keep up-to-date with NGAG's activities.

Newington Green Action Group's popular annual jazz  picnic was an extended event this year, to celebrate the Queen's Jubilee.
