The Mildmay Club ~ Autumn
The Newington Green Action Group commissioned Jan Bowman to design a set of postcards that depict the historic buildings that surround the Green, during the four seasons.
The Autumn card shows the North East corner of Newington Green with the Mildmay Social Club and the impressive Georgian houses on the East side of the Green.
Each card gives some information about the history of the buildings and of the famous people associated with Newington Green, on the reverse:
'Newington Green, a small clearing in the Great Middlesex Forest, was first mentioned by name in 1480. Henry V111 is said to have...'
'The Mildmay Club was built in 1900 on the site of early 18th Century houses....'
