Plants for Newington Green Tree Pits

Plants for Newington Green Tree Pits

Plants for the Tree Pits

All these plants were bought by NGAG and are to be planted in the new tree pit gardens that LBI Islington has kindly provided around the native varieties of street trees that we planted around Newington Green in 2009.

To link up with one of the influential residents of Newington Green, Mary Wollstonecraft who was one of the very first feminists, the plants are purple, green and white, the colours of the suffragettes who followed in Wollstonecraft's footsteps. Many of the plants have also been chosen as being able support bees and other insects, with nectar and pollen.

We Need Your Help

Do come along and help NGAG Volunteers to plant these lovely flowers on Sunday 27 June.

We would also like to have help caring for them in the weeks to come by watering and tidying away litter that spoils them. In the hot weather, the plants and the trees will need lots of regular watering, probably daily, if they are to survive.
