The Mildmay Club was designed by architect and Club Member, Alfred Allen 1888. The building is Locally Listed and falls within within Hackney's Newington Green Conservation area.

The Club is on the North, Hackney side of Newington Green, was originally called The Mildmay Radical Club and the name was later changed to The Mildmay Club and Institute in the 1930s and it became a Working Men's Club.

The Mildmay Social Club is owned by its 200 members and still contains an imposing snooker hall, dance floors and a small theatre where variety shows have been held. Performers have included Winifred Atwell, Tommy Steele and more recently John Hegley

The Club is frequently used for wedding receptions, meetings and other social gatherings.
