The Mayville Community Centre

The redevelopment of the Mayville Community Centre is nearing completion.  It incorporates a variety of spaces that will be able to be used by individual and groups from the local community and is fully accessible, so it will be a great place to hold meetings and run courses.

The Centre was designed and built by local architect and NGAG member Justin Bere.

As can be seen in the photo, the Centre's design makes good use of solar panels which will create a lot of free energy for the building. To the rear, it also has a green roof and these are some of the features that bring the building up to the level of Passivhaus standards and principles, so that it has a very low carbon footprint.

This exciting new building has already won the Best Public Building 3R (Refit, Rethink, Reretrofit) Award 2011.
