Wildflowers Under a Street Tree

In 2009 LB Islington generously gave away packets of wildflower seeds to Islington residents, which many local people planted in street tree pits around the Newington Green area.

These lovely flowers were sewn under one of the 30 native trees that NGAG planted as part of the WING project. How refreshing to see trees, poppies, oxeye daisies and corn marigolds growing again on Green Lanes, after so many years of being surrounded by just grey concrete!

Just imagine how lovely our area would look, if every road had street trees and every tree pit had flowers planted in them. We could do it!
