Pat Haynes ~ Honorary Member of NGAG
Pat Haynes
Newington Green Action Group executive committee is pleased to announce that it has made Pat Haynes NGAG's first Honorary Member, in recognition of his longstanding contribution to the work of NGAG and to the local community.
Pat served as an Islington councillor for 31 years, is an ex-mayor of Islington, an active campaigner and member of Islington's Pensioners' Forum and the old Mildmay Community Forum. Pat was a founder member of NGAG and was NGAG's Treasurer for several years, serving on the committee from 1997until he stepped down in 2011
Pat is a very knowledgeable local historian and in 2001 he published the booklet 'A Short History of Newington Green' with the Islington Local History Education Trust. The research that went into this booklet contributed greatly to NGAG's 2008 publication by Alex Allardyce 'The Village that Changed the World, A History of Newington Green London N16'.
