Cllr. Anna Berent ~ Mayor of Islington 2009

The Newington Green Action Group would like to offer our congratulations to NGAG executive committee member, Councillor Anna Berent, who has been elected Mayor of Islington in May 2009.  Anna was a founder member of the Action Group and has been involved with our affairs for the last ten years or so and has been an invaluable support and contributor to the group, with her understanding and knowledge about local issues

At the age of 82, Anna has become the oldest mayor to be installed in the Borough and is a great role model. Anna first entered politics in the 1930's, has been involved with several other local community groups and was elected to be the L B Islington Councillor for our local Mildmay Ward, in 2002.
